The Master Air Warrant Officer (MAWO) of the Ghana Air Force, Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Amponsem Edward, has held a durbar with personnel of Air Force Base Takoradi as part of his ongoing familiarisation visits to bases and units.

The durbar, held on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at the Air Force Recruit Training School (AFRTS) Auditorium, afforded the MAWO the opportunity to engage personnel on discipline, professional development, security, physical fitness and welfare.

MWO Amponsem reiterated the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, “to become an effective and efficient air force built around motivated personnel with a passion for excellence and success.” He noted that his mandate was to support the CAS in achieving this vision while promoting the welfare and professional development of airmen and airwomen.

He urged personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline by remaining responsive to command, adhering to Ghana Armed Forces regulations and preserving the traditions and values of the Service. He also cautioned against involvement in unauthorised activities that could bring the Service into disrepute and reminded personnel to wear the military uniform appropriately.

On physical fitness, the MAWO encouraged personnel to maintain regular fitness regimes to remain operationally ready and to prioritise periodic medical check-ups.

He further disclosed that leadership training programmes were being undertaken to equip personnel with the requisite skills for career progression and encouraged them to continually broaden their knowledge of the Ghana Air Force.

Touching on welfare, MWO Amponsem indicated that efforts were being made to address accommodation challenges within the Service.

Earlier, the MAWO interacted with recruits of Course 1/2026 at AFRTS and urged them to uphold the values and tenets of the military profession as they prepared to graduate as airmen and airwomen.
