The Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHFAC) in collaboration with  Aerojet Aviation Training College has commenced a 6-week aviation course for 48 students from the Aerojet Aviation Training College for their practical sandwich course on Tuesday 5 December 2023 at the Air Force Base Accra.

The program aims to bridge the skills gap and provide comprehensive aircraft technical training and knowledge to aspiring aviation professionals on the continent.

Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah, who graced the ceremony as the Guest of Honour thanked the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe and the Aerojet Aviation Limited for the grand vision of facilitating the Public-Private Partnership in Aviation Training. He noted that, the course seeks to empower the students with the requisite skills and expertise necessary to pursue rewarding careers in the aviation industry thus motivating them to excel in their studies.  

The Commanding Officer of GHFAC, Squadron Leader Emmanuel Kweitsu Obroni stated that the collaboration marks a pioneering effort in the realm of aviation education, specifically focusing on the practical aspects of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. He added that the commitment, dedication and hard work of the students during the course will contribute significantly to the growth of this collaborative initiative and to the overall advancement of the aviation sector.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the Aerojet Aviation, Mr Mazisi Parkes acknowledged that the partnership with the Ghana Air Force was a critical step in changing the fortunes of the Ghanaian aviation industry within the Sub Region. “Aerojet Aviation is currently in the process of developing the first ever full-service independent Aircraft Maintenance Facility in the West & Central African Region. The state- of-the-art facility which is being constructed in Accra with support from the Ghana Air Force will have the capacity to create over 800 jobs and maintain both narrow and widebody aircraft from all over the world”, he disclosed.

On their part, the students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this groundbreaking programme in their journey to becoming aviation professionals.

Present at the event was the incoming Commanding Officer of GHFAC, Squadron Leader Victor Okonta Asiedu and some representatives from Aerojet Aviation Training College.
