AFB TAKORADI MEDICAL RECEPTION CENTRE RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM PHILANTHROPISTS

The Air Force Base Takoradi (AFB TAK) Medical Reception Centre (MRS) has received a donation of essential medical equipment for its newly constructed maternity block from a group of seven philanthropists from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Thursday, 16 October 2025.

The donation, aimed at supporting quality healthcare delivery for military personnel, their families, and surrounding civilian communities, included ECG machines, blood pressure monitors, fetal dopplers, glucometers, air conditioners, patient seats, and other vital medical supplies.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Base, the Commander of AFB TAK, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, expressed profound gratitude to the donors for their generous gesture. He noted that the equipment would enhance operations at the new maternity block and significantly improve healthcare services at the centre.

Air Commodore Yirenkyi also commended the philanthropists for their benevolence and urged them to remain steadfast in their community service, assuring them that their contributions would not go unnoticed. He further encouraged the healthcare staff to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment and reiterated the Base’s commitment to fostering future collaborations.

The initiative was inspired after two members of the philanthropic group, Mr Mika Michael Nunekpeku and Mr Loosian Dekkles Appavo, paid an unplanned visit to the MRS. According to Mr  Appavo, who spoke on behalf of the group, the visit motivated them to mobilise colleagues to support the facility. He added that the gesture would not be a one-time event, as the group intends to continue supporting the Base in future endeavours.

The Deputy Director Nursing Services for 2 Garrison, Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Ampong, expressed appreciation to both the Base Commander for his leadership and the philanthropists for their invaluable contribution to healthcare delivery.
