
CAS ATTENDS 2025 CHALLENGES ANNUAL FORUM AT KAIPTC
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, was among a host of dignitaries who attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Challenges Annual Forum held at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.
The 3-day forum, held under the theme “Adapt and Advance: Renewing the Impact of Peace Operations,” brought together key stakeholders in peace and security to deliberate on innovative approaches to strengthening global peace operations amidst evolving security challenges.
Delivering the keynote address, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Her Excellency Hanna Tetteh, underscored the need for peacekeeping missions to be empowered through well-crafted mandates that focus on core diligence and operational effectiveness.
She stated that the United Nations, in fulfilling its mandate of maintaining international peace and security, must explore structural reforms and technological advancement to enhance efficiency and the implementation of key tasks.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, commended Ghana’s longstanding commitment and immense contribution to global peacekeeping efforts and reaffirmed the country’s readiness to support United Nations missions.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the need to strengthen regional operations, integrate climate considerations and leverage new technologies to define future peacekeeping priorities.
On his part, the Acting Commandant of KAIPTC, Air Commodore David Anetey Akrong, reiterated the Centre’s continuous commitment to advancing global peace through training, dialogue and strategic partnerships. He called on participants to engage in fruitful discussions and propose practical solutions to aid the adaptation and advancement of peace operations in line with the global peacekeeping agenda.
In attendance were also the Chief of the Defence Staff, Senior Officers, and a host of other dignitaries.
