The Director General Resettlement of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General  (Brig Gen) Joseph Buame, has urged personnel to make deliberate and adequate preparations for a successful transition into life after active military service.

He stressed that retirement planning should not be left until the end of one's career but should be approached as a continuous and intentional process.

Brigadier General Buame made these remarks on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at the ongoing Ghana Air Force Senior Warrant Officers, Warrant Officers (WO's) and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers' (SNCO's) convention at the Air Force Base, Accra.

According to him, sound financial management and early resettlement planning are essential to ensuring a smooth and fulfilling post-service life. His remarks followed a lecture on "Resettlement and Financial Management" delivered by Wing Commander Josephine Adjei-Ephraim.

On his part, the Base Commander, Tamale, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Atiemo who delivered a presentation on the role of leadership and professionalism in sustaining personnel morale underscored the need for leaders at all levels to lead by example to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and excellence.

Under the theme "Leadership, Mentorship and Discipline," distinguished retired senior servicemen, including former Forces Sergeant Major Chief Warrant Officer Ramos Barker, former Master Air Warrant Officer (MAWO), Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Bawa Abdulai and the current MAWO, MWO Edward Amponsem shared practical lessons from their years of military service.

The speakers highlighted the importance of exemplary leadership, effective mentorship and unwavering discipline in shaping competent personnel.  They encouraged participants to uphold the core values of the Ghana Air Force while mentoring the next generation of leaders.

The day's activities concluded with an interactive open forum and plenary session, during which participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences and discussed issues relating to their professional growth.
