Chaplains and Imams participating in the West Africa Religious Affairs Symposium (WARAS 2026) on Thursday 16 July 2026 toured places of worship and key religious infrastructure at Burma Camp. The purpose of the tour was to gain first-hand insight into the Ghana Armed Forces' approach to promote religious harmony and strengthening spiritual support for personnel.

The delegates visited the Church of Pentecost, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Central Mosque, The Garrison Presbyterian-Methodist Church, Anglican Church and the Catholic Church, where they received briefings on the history, roles and contributions of the various denominations and the Islamic faith to the spiritual wellbeing of service personnel and their families.

As part of the tour, they also inspected the Department of Religious Affairs' (DRA) new ultramodern office complex currently under construction. The administration Officer for DRA, Squadron Leader Richard Asiedu-Perdison briefed the Chaplains noting that upon completion, the facility will accommodate both the Director General and all other Directors of the Department, a modern conference room and other administrative offices to enhance the department's operational efficiency and interfaith coordination.

The visit highlighted the Ghana Armed Forces' commitment to fostering religious tolerance, strengthening chaplaincy and Imam services, and provide modern infrastructure to support the delivery of religious and moral guidance across the military.

The tour formed part of activities lined up for the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 West Africa Religious Affairs Symposium which was geared towards promoting professional exchange, deepen regional cooperation among military religious leaders and share best practices in the delivery of religious affairs within the Armed Forces in West Africa.
