TANZANIAN NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE VISITS AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS

The Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, received a delegation from the Tanzanian National Defence College Course 2025/2026 at the Air Force Headquarters on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

 

 

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen military cooperation and foster professional exchange between the Ghana Air Force and the Tanzania National Defence College.

 

 

In his address, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah welcomed the delegation and underscored the significance of such engagements in fostering shared learning, enhancing operational capabilities, and building enduring partnerships between the two countries.

 

 

As part of the programme, the Director Validation, Standardisation and Inspection, Group Captain Nii Adjei Aryeetey, delivered a presentation on the “Ghana Air Force’s Role in Managing and Protecting Ghana’s Natural Resource Wealth”.  He highlighted key operational roles of the Air Force, including Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), rapid air mobility, maritime domain awareness to safeguard offshore assets, and VVIP transportation in support of national duties.

 

 

The presentation also outlined critical challenges confronting the resources in this domain, notably illegal mining (galamsey), land and chieftaincy disputes, as well as coastal and fishing-related operations. The presentation also focused on the DIME framework, concentrating on the diplomatic, informational, and economic instruments of national power to enhance resource protection efforts.

 

 

Group Captain Aryeetey further highlighted a range of mitigation strategies and capability development measures, including the establishment of a National Resource Security Operations Centre, strengthening legal and regulatory frameworks, expanding international partnerships and promoting community-based enforcement initiatives.

 

 

The leader of the delegation and Commandant of the Tanzanian National Defence College, Major General Wilbert Augustin Ibuge, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and noted that the visit provided valuable insights into the organisational structure, strategic responsibilities and evolving role of the Ghana Air Force.

 

 

The visit concluded with an exchange of mementoes between the two institutions, symbolising the strong and cordial relations, mutual respect, and enduring partnership between Ghana and Tanzania.
