REGIMENTAL ORIENTATION TRAINING FOR NEWLY COMMISSIONED OFFICERS COMMENCES IN TAKORADI

The Air Force Base, Takoradi, has commenced Regimental Orientation Training (ROT) for newly commissioned officers of Regular Career Course Intake 64 and Short Service Commission Intake 62. The ROT programme is designed to familiarise the officers with the Base’s operational standards, regimental culture and professional expectations.

It represents a critical transition phase intended to test, refine and shape the young officers into leaders of the highest calibre following their recent commissioning from the military academy.

At the opening ceremony held on Monday, 16 March 2026, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, warmly welcomed the newly commissioned officers. He noted that the ROT was an essential period that would equip the officers with the knowledge, skills and attitude required to lead effectively and serve the Ghana Air Force and the nation with distinction.

He urged the young officers to approach the training with open minds, a strong willingness to learn and a firm commitment to mastering the principles and competencies that define professional Air Force leadership.

Air Commodore Yirenkyi further encouraged the instructors and supporting staff to remain steadfast in their efforts to deliver the best possible training, emphasising that their collective objective was to mould the officers into competent leaders capable of upholding the highest standards of the Service.

The Course Commander, Squadron Leader Stephen Kwesi Addae, highlighted the importance of discipline, professionalism and teamwork within the Ghana Air Force. He explained that the officers would undergo a range of instructional modules designed to strengthen their ability to command, manage personnel and effectively administer regimental responsibilities.

He urged the officers to give their utmost, remain resilient and approach every aspect of the programme with a learning mindset, noting that the orientation training would lay the foundation for the distinguished careers they aspire to build in the Ghana Air Force.
