NIGERIAN SECURITY STUDIES PARTICIPANTS ON STUDY TOUR VISIT GHANA AIR FORCE

Twenty participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 18 from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Nigeria, paid a courtesy visit to the Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ) on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, as part of a week-long study tour in Ghana.

 

 

 

The delegation, led by the Director of Research, Estimate and Library Services at NISS, Mr. Rafiu Adekunle Balarinwa, is on a strategic study tour themed “Non-State Actors in Security Management: Issues, Challenges and Prospects for Peace and Development in Africa.”

 

 

The visit forms part of NISS’s curriculum to expose participants, mainly senior security and intelligence officers to real-world practices and cross-border collaboration models addressing contemporary security challenges, particularly the role of non-state actors.

 

 

At the AFHQ, the delegation was received by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong. In his remarks, he acknowledged the visit and highlighted the long standing collaboration between the Ghana and Nigerian Armed Forces. He underscored the importance of sustained cooperation in strengthening regional security and development.

 

 

 

As part of the engagement, the Deputy Director of Air Operations, Wing Commander Davis Aboagye, delivered a presentation on the Ghana Air Force’s Role in Supporting Civil Authorities During Domestic Emergencies and Natural Disasters.

 

 

He outlined the Air Force’s contributions to national and regional security, including Search and Rescue missions, firefighting operations, medical evacuation flights, and logistical support during emergencies. He noted that these roles are essential in promoting national resilience and regional stability.
