NEW ACCOMMODATION FACILITY COMMISSIONED AT AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI

The Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, on Wednesday 14 January 2026, commissioned a newly constructed nine-room accommodation facility for personnel of the Base.

 

In his address, Air Commodore Yirenkyi stated that the commissioning of the facility went beyond the provision of physical infrastructure, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Base’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel. He noted that the project marked a significant and deeply gratifying milestone in the Base’s ongoing efforts to enhance personnel welfare and operational readiness.

 

 

The Base Commander further emphasised that the successful completion of the project was a testament to the power of collaboration and mutual friendship. He expressed profound appreciation to all relevant stakeholders for laying the essential foundation that made the achievement possible and appealed for their continued support towards addressing other priority projects at the Base.

 

 

He underscored the importance of providing personnel with decent accommodation, noting that a proper place for rest and recuperation was fundamental to building a strong, resilient, and effective force. He assured stakeholders that the facility would be properly maintained to serve both present and future generations.

 

On behalf of the Base, Air Commodore Yirenkyi expressed his deepest appreciation to the Managing Director of CGM Company Limited, Mr Charles Gyamfi Mends, for responding to the Base’s needs with professionalism and delivering the project on schedule, exemplifying the spirit of partnership. As a token of appreciation, the Base Commander presented a plaque to Mr Gyamfi Mends in recognition of his hard work and dedication.

 

 

In his remarks, Mr Gyamfi Mends thanked the Base Commander and the Command for the trust and collaboration throughout the project period. He described the project as a worthwhile endeavour and his modest contribution towards improving the living standards of personnel and the overall development of the Base.

 

 

The ceremony was attended by the Commander Flying Group, Group Captain Selasie Agbenyefia, the Commanding Officer Administration Wing, Wing Commander Abdul Aziz Sherif Mustapha, Senior Officers, Officers, and Soldiers.
