GUARD OF HONOUR MOUNTED FOR US AFRICOM COMMANDER
The Ghana Air Force on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, mounted a ceremonial half Guard of Honour for the Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin Anderson.

The ceremony was held at the General Headquarters during his official visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong. The visit formed part of sustained engagements aimed at deepening defence cooperation and advancing discussions on issues of mutual strategic interest between Ghana and the United States. Following the guard of honour ceremony, the two military leaders proceeded to closed-door deliberations.

The United States Africa Command is one of the eleven unified combatant commands under the United States Department of Defense, responsible for overseeing military partnerships, security cooperation, and operations across 53 African countries.

Accompanying the Commander were the United States Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Mr Rolf Olsen, Foreign Policy Advisor to the AFRICOM Commander, Ambassador Peter Vrooman, the United States Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Elowe and other staff officers of AFRICOM.
