Group Captain Kwabena Krampa Antwi has officially assumed office as the Acting Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi on Monday, 10 August 2026.

His assumption of office followed a successful handing-over and taking-over ceremony with the outgoing Base Commander, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, formally marking the transition of leadership at the Base.

On his first day in office, Group Captain Antwi was formally received by Officers, Airmen and Airwomen of the Base. He subsequently inspected a Quarter Guard mounted in his honour at the Base Headquarters.

As part of his initial engagements, the Acting Base Commander held a comprehensive briefing with Senior Officers, Commanding Officers of the various Wings and other Officers at the Ashley Lassen Hangar. The briefing provided him with an overview of the operational, administrative and logistical activities of the Base, as well as ongoing initiatives and areas requiring attention.

The engagement also afforded Group Captain Antwi the opportunity to familiarise himself with the current state of affairs at the Base and gain insight into its operational priorities and administrative requirements.

The assumption of office by Group Captain Antwi marks a new chapter in the leadership of Air Force Base Takoradi, with continued emphasis on operational effectiveness, discipline, professionalism, teamwork and personnel welfare in support of the mandate of the Ghana Air Force.
