GHANA CHAMBER OF MINES PLEDGES CONTINUOUS SUPPORT TO THE GHANA AIR FORCE

A seven-member delegation from the Ghana Chamber of Mines, led by the President, Mr Michael Akafia, visited the Air Force Headquarters on Thursday 27 June 2024 to strengthen their relations and explore collaborative opportunities for national development.

 

 

During the visit, Mr Akafia underscored the importance of the long-standing relationship between the Chamber and the Armed Forces. He highlighted the critical role of the mining industry in contributing significantly to national revenue through taxes and foreign exchange inflows, as well as supporting local businesses.

 

 

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the Air Force, Mr Akafia commended their dedication to protecting the territorial air space of Ghana. In a gesture of goodwill, he presented a cash donation and assured the continuous support from the Chamber and its member companies to enhance the operational readiness of the Ghana Air Force.

 

 

On his part, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe expressed his gratitude to the delegation. He was optimistic that the collaborative efforts would be immensely beneficial to both the mining sector and national security.

 

 

 

The visit ended with the Chief of the Air Staff presenting a customised plaque to the President of the Chamber of Mines on the occasion of his maiden visit to the Air Force Headquarters.
