GHANA AIR FORCE INAUGURATES RETIRED AIRMEN SECRETARIAT TO STRENGTHEN VETERAN ENGAGEMENT

The Ghana Air Force has inaugurated a Secretariat for the Retired Airmen Association at the Air Force Base Accra on Thursday, 2 April 2026, aimed at enhancing coordination and engagement with retired personnel.

The Secretariat is expected to serve as a central hub for managing the affairs of retired airmen, while strengthening the bond between serving personnel and veterans of the Service.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Guest of Honour and Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, underscored the importance of recognising the contributions of retired personnel and ensuring their continued inclusion in the Air Force family.

He noted that the establishment of the Secretariat reflects the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to honouring the service of its veterans and providing structures that support their welfare and engagement.

The CDS added that retired personnel remain an invaluable asset to the Service, whose wealth of experience and institutional memory continue to serve as a source of guidance and inspiration for the younger generation.

The inauguration also highlighted the Ghana Air Force’s broader commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that values both active and retired personnel.

The event formed part of activities held on the same day, which also included the commissioning of new accommodation facilities for personnel at the Base, and was attended by Service Chiefs, senior officers both serving and retired, as well as other distinguished guests.
