GHANA AIR FORCE COMMISSIONS NEW HOUSING PROJECTS TO ENHANCE PERSONNEL WELFARE

The Ghana Air Force has commissioned a 24-unit studio apartment and a seven-unit single quarters block at the Air Force Base Accra on Thursday 2 April 2026, as part of efforts to improve accommodation and welfare for personnel.

The newly completed facilities form part of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing living conditions and addressing accommodation challenges within the Service.

Delivering his address, the Guest of Honour and Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, described the occasion as a significant milestone in the continuous drive to improve the welfare of personnel. He emphasised that providing safe, decent and comfortable accommodation remains essential in recognising the sacrifices and commitment of servicemen and women.

He commended personnel for their dedication to national security and noted that although their service cannot be fully repaid, the Ghana Armed Forces remains committed to ensuring they are well supported to serve effectively and live with dignity.

The CDS further stated that the facilities represent more than just infrastructure, but a broader commitment to promoting well-being, improving mental health and fostering a strong sense of duty among personnel. He also expressed appreciation to the contractors for their professionalism and urged beneficiaries to maintain the facilities as a legacy for future generations.

The Base Commander, Air Force Base Accra, Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson, noted that the project marks a major step towards addressing accommodation deficits within the Base. He commended the Chief of the Air Staff for his visionary leadership and sustained support in bringing the project to fruition.

The event was attended by Service Chiefs, the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, senior officers both serving and retired, as well as executives of the Air Wives Association.
