Ghana Air Force has commenced its maiden Warrant Officers' and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers' Convention at the Air Force Base Accra on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

The three-day convention, being held under the theme, "Enhancing Professional Excellence and Operational Readiness: The Role of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers in Modernising the Ghana Air Force," provides a platform for participants to deliberate on strategies to strengthen professionalism, leadership and operational effectiveness within the Service.

Delivering the keynote address, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, described the convention as a significant milestone in the professional development of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and an important platform for advancing the Ghana Air Force through continuous learning, professional development and purposeful collaboration.

He noted that the gathering reflected the collective commitment of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers to strengthening the Service as it continues to evolve in response to emerging security challenges while fulfilling its constitutional mandate.

Air Vice Marshal Agyen-Frempong encouraged participants to actively engage in the deliberations, draw on their wealth of operational experience and contribute innovative ideas towards shaping the future of the Ghana Air Force. He expressed confidence that the convention would generate practical recommendations to guide the leadership of the Service in enhancing professionalism, discipline and operational readiness.

The CAS further urged participants to use the opportunity to strengthen professional relationships, exchange best practices and deepen cooperation across the various Bases, Commands and Units of the Ghana Air Force. He emphasised that the professional networks established during the convention would contribute significantly to greater collaboration and operational effectiveness across the Service.

Earlier, the Base Commander, Air Force Base Accra, Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson, welcomed participants and distinguished guests to the Base and assured them of the Organising Committee's commitment to providing the necessary support for the successful conduct of the convention.

He underscored the importance of strategic leadership and sound decision-making in shaping the future of the Ghana Air Force, stressing that the effective development, employment and integration of air power remained critical to the Service's ability to accomplish its mission.

Air Commodore Arneson observed that the evolving security landscape in West Africa, characterised by terrorism, asymmetric warfare, border incursions and maritime security threats, required a modern, agile and forward-looking Air Force capable of responding effectively to emerging and evolving threats.

He therefore urged participants to engage meaningfully in the discussions, share lessons from their operational experiences and develop actionable recommendations that would contribute to strengthening the operational readiness and strategic direction of the Ghana Air Force.

The convention will feature presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions designed to deepen participants' understanding of contemporary security and operational issues. It will also enhance leadership and professional excellence, and strengthen the contribution of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers to the modernisation and operational effectiveness of the Ghana Air Force.
