GCAA AND GHANA AIR FORCE FORGE STRONG TIES FOR AIRSPACE SAFETY

A four-member delegation led by the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Mr Charles Krakue paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe at the Air Force Headquarters, Burma Camp on Tuesday 13 February 2024.

 

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions and deliberate on strategies to further safeguard the aviation space of the nation. Additionally, the meeting was to discuss the significance of joint calibrations, facilitated access to Air Force facilities and the sharing of radar feed.

 

These measures are expected to help surveillance of the airspace and ensure a safer and more secure environment for both civil and military aviation operations. Aside the technical aspects of the collaboration, issues bothering on joint training exercises among others were discussed.

 

At the end of the meeting, the aviation experts were given a tour of the Air Force Headquarters particularly the Operations room (Ops Room), where a thorough brief was done by Deputy Director Air Operations (Air Traffic Service), Wing Commander P Kuu-Ire. In his briefing, Wing Commander Kuu-Ire elaborated on the function and role of the Ops Room as the nerve center of the Air Force Headquarters.
