GAFCSC AIR FACULTY VISITS AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI

The Air Faculty of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Senior Division led by the Acting Chief Instructor, Wing Commander Bernard Doe Aryee on Tuesday 20 February 2024 visited the Air Force Base Takoradi. 

 

 

According to Wing Commander Bernard Aryee, the visit was in line with the curriculum of the College to give students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the operations of the Base.

 

 

Welcoming the delegation, the Commander Flying Group, Group Captain Selase Y Agbenyefia was elated that the Air Force Base Takoradi which serves as the training hub of the Ghana Air Force was contributing to the career development of the students.

 

 

As part of the visit, a symposium was organised where the delegation received briefings from two organisations co-located at the Base; Heliconia Aviation and Tullow Ghana Limited.

 

The Commanding Officer, Air Traffic Management Wing (CO ATMW), Wing Commander Kwame Alifo also briefed them on the role played by the Base in its mission to deliver airpower to meet national security objectives. He also outlined the tasks and roles of the Base in the wake of emerging security threats after the oil-find. The CO ATMW added that, through effective collaborations with all stakeholders, the mandate of ensuring air operational safety and security within the Base Operational Area would be achieved.

 

 

The entourage made up of 3 Members of the Directing Staff and 17 Students were later given a tour of the Base. They visited the Archilles Harry Kwame Dumashie Hangar, Richard Yaovi Ashley Lassen Hangar, Air Traffic Control Tower and the Fire Section. Other areas toured were the Tullow warehouses comprising the third-party warehouses, the oil spill response yard and the pipe storage yard.
