GAF PERSONNEL EXCEL IN AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION TRAINING

Ten (10) personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Medical Services and Ghana Air Force Air Crew have distinguished themselves as potential instructors for an upcoming Aeromedical Evacuation Training (AMET) course, scheduled for April 2024. 

 

 

Their exceptional performance during a two-week intensive training session at the Ghana Air Force Aviation School, organised by the Defense Institute for Medical Operations (DIMO) from the USA, has earned them this prestigious recognition.

 

In his address at the closing ceremony on Friday 8 March 2024, Director Training at the General Headquarters Medical Services, Colonel George Boamah expressed gratitude to the DIMO team for their impactful training sessions and commended the participants for their remarkable performance throughout the course.

 

 

The Deputy Director Training at the Air Force Headquarters, Wing Commander FQ Tetteh, underscored the importance of continuous training in preparing personnel to effectively tackle challenges in their respective roles. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Air Force in partnering with DIMO and other stakeholders in capacity building programmes.

 

 

Squadron Leader RE Amenyo-Xah, speaking on behalf of the participants, expressed appreciation to the Military High Command for the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills. She highlighted the hands-on experience gained through both theoretical and practical sessions during the training period.

 

 

 

The AMET programme covered a range of crucial topics including Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Crew Resource Management between Medical and Air crew, Medical Evacuation Plan, Medical Logistics and Training the Trainer package.

 

 

 

 As a testament to their readiness for future missions, the AMET team presented training equipment to the host which will facilitate subsequent training programmes.

 

 

With their certification to teach and evaluate in such missions, participants on the course are poised to lead and inspire future generations of aeromedical evacuation specialists whiles ensuring the highest standards of care and efficiency in emergency situations.
