The President of the Air Wives Organisation (AWO), Mrs Eden Arneson, has urged women to prioritise their health by paying attention to changes in their bodies and seek medical attention early to improve the chances of successful breast cancer treatment.

She made the call during a breast cancer awareness Screening programme held by the Organisation at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHAFAC) on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

Mrs Arneson said breast cancer could affect anyone, irrespective of their background and encouraged women to make regular self-examination, clinical screening and timely medical consultation part of their health routine.

She underscored the important roles women often played in supporting their spouses, families and communities, but cautioned that they must also make their own health life a priority.

“As wives, we understand what it means to be strong and to support our spouses through demanding schedules and unexpected challenges. However, we also deserve care, attention and protection,” she said.

Mrs Arneson encouraged participants to listen to their bodies and seek professional medical advice whenever they noticed unusual changes, and also extend support and encouragement to women who may be undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

She described the programme as an opportunity to share encouragement, knowledge and prevention, urging participants to share the information gained with their families, friends and communities.“Together, through awareness and action, we can save lives,” she added.

The AWO President expressed appreciation to the Chief Patron, the Base Commander, partners, sponsors and all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
