The Director of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME), Colonel Joseph Busy Boglo, has engaged personnel serving within the various 2 Garrison Light Aid Detachments (LADs) during his maiden familiarisation visit to the Garrison on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Director to formally acquaint himself with personnel, operational activities and engineering support systems within the Garrison, while also assessing areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency and technical support.

As part of the visit, Colonel Boglo paid courtesy calls on the 2 Garrison Commander and Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono and the Second-in-Command of 2 Infantry Battalion, Major Richard Hokoe.

During the engagements, the commanders warmly welcomed the Director and commended the EME Directorate for its continuous support towards operational effectiveness and maintenance activities across the Ghana Armed Forces. They also underscored the critical role of sustained engineering support and effective maintenance systems in enhancing operational readiness within their respective formations.

Colonel Boglo subsequently interacted with soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff serving within the various units under the Garrison. The session provided personnel with the opportunity to discuss maintenance practices, operational challenges, equipment management, and electrical safety concerns.
Addressing the personnel, the Director urged them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and safety in the handling and maintenance of operational equipment. He further assured them of the Directorate’s commitment to strengthening technical support systems, fostering collaboration, and improving communication across the Ghana Armed Forces.
The visit also included an inspection of selected installations and facilities within the Garrison, enabling the Director to gain first-hand insight into their operational and maintenance requirements and to better appreciate the challenges confronting personnel on the ground.
