BE NEUTRAL AND PROFESSIONAL BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER ELECTIONS- CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF CAUTIONS

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe has cautioned personnel to desist from engaging in politics and remain neutral as the election season approaches. He made these remarks during his end-of-first quarter durbar with personnel of the Air Force Takoradi on 10 June 2024.

 

 

In her welcome remarks, the Flying Group Commander, Group Captain Selase Yaya Agbenyefia expressed her gratitude to the CAS for the visit. She highlighted the operational, logistical, and administration state of the Base giving credence to the CAS for his support and guidance within the period.

 

 

The Flying Group Commander further mentioned some self-help initiatives being undertaken by the Base including the commencement of phase 3 of the palm plantation project being done in conjunction with Benson Oil Palm Plantation. Group Captain Agbenyefia further accentuated that the Base effectively conducted all mandatory tasks including the management of the Takoradi airport.

 

 

In a durbar with personnel, AVM Bekoe commended them for their hard work and dedication to duty asserting the need to continue to embrace the values of professionalism, esprit de corps, and camaraderie. The CAS gave an update on some training packages to enhance the capacity of personnel; including the introduction of the drill and duties and military police basic courses.

 

 

The CAS added that extensive efforts had commenced to procure new helicopters, transport, and light attack aircraft for the Ghana Air Force. This would position the Ghana Air Force to effectively carry out its mandated tasks.

 

 

In line with his vision of improving the welfare of personnel, AVM Bekoe expressed delight in the improvement of the clothing stock for personnel. He also noted that the 24-unit accommodation project which commenced in the earlier part of the year was progressing steadily.

 

 

Stressing the importance of good health, AVM Bekoe advised personnel to undertake regular health check-ups and engage in sporting activities to always keep fit for all assigned duties.

 

 

The CAS and his Staff Officers were then given a conducted tour of some hangers and projects on the Base. While inspecting the 24-unit studio accommodation, AVM Bekoe urged the contractor to complete the work in line with the agreed schedule.

 

 

 

 

As a token of appreciation, the Base presented a customised, wooden carved table stand, engraved with a lion to symbolise the fearlessness and exemplary leadership of the CAS, who expressed his appreciation for the thoughtful gesture.

 

 

Accompanying the CAS were the Deputy Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore FK Kudoh, and some Directors from the Air Force Headquarters.
