AWO ORGANIZES BREAST CANCER AWARENESS HEALTH WALK

As part of activities lined up for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Air Wives Organization (AWO) has organized a health walk on Saturday 7 October 2023. The event organized under the theme “Keeping her in the Picture” was aimed at educating women and girls on preventive measures, encouraging regular check-ups, and emphasizing the importance of exercise and proper nutrition.

The health walk started at the AWO secretariat, through the Burma Camp barracks, and ended up at the Air Force Base Accra amidst singing and drumming.

Speaking at the event, the 2nd Vice President for AWO, Mrs Sheila Boadu highlighted the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early detection in the fight against breast cancer. She urged the Air Wives to cultivate the habit of engaging in regular exercise and should not hesitate to report to the medical facility promptly in order to avert the escalation of any medical condition.

According to Mrs Boadu, her outfit in the subsequent weeks of October will organize a health talk and breast cancer screening exercise and thus encouraged all and sundry to actively participate. She also thanked Officers, Airmen and the wives for showing up to make the programme a success.

Supporting the Wives at the programme were the Base Commander, Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong, Officer Commanding the Flying Wing, Group Captain David Nkansah, Officer Commanding Administration Wing, Wing Commander Zenabu Yakubu, Officer Commanding Supply Wing, Wing Commander Eliasu, Officer Commanding Communications Squadron, Wing Commander Darko and other Base Officers and Airmen.
