AIR FORCE MOVES TO SECURE ACCREDITATION FOR S OF TT

As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ghana Air Force School of Trade Training (S of TT) and the School of Aerospace Engineering of the University of Ghana, a delegation led by Professor Boateng Onwona-Agyeman and Professor Abu Yaya have paid a working visit to the School of Trade Training. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the schools’ facilities and advice on the processes to seek accreditation for the school.

The delegation first paid a courtesy call on the Accra Base Commander, Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong. Prof Onwona-Agyeman stated that the reason for their visit was to explore prospects for collaboration and accreditation opportunities within the field of trade education. He was confident S of TT would benefit from the Aerospace Engineering library resources and other facilities while they will also benefit from the practical lessons taught in S of TT.

Air Commodore Agyen-Frempong thanked the delegation for their visit. He was hopeful that the school would receive the nod for the accreditation.

In his brief, the Commanding Officer of the school, Squadron Leader Emmanuel Obroni Kweitsu, highlighted on the importance of the S of TT as an important part of the career development of personnel. He added that Airmen who pass through the school receive lessons for basic, intermediate, advance and on-the-job training in their respective trades which seek to broaden their knowledge and skills.

He said, the partnership between the University of Ghana School of Aerospace Engineering and the Ghana Air Force would aim to ensure that graduates from the School of Trade Training emerge as skilled professionals capable of contributing effectively to the growth and competitiveness of the trade sector.

He also emphasized on the future projections of the S of TT and these include institutional accreditation to become Ghana Air Force Aviation College, expansion of school facilities with new classrooms, accommodation and training equipment, certification to become an approved training organisation under Ghana Civil Aviation and many more.

As the University of Ghana and the Ghana Air Force Command align their synergies, this collaboration promises to foster academic excellence and promote practical knowledge in the field of trade training.
