AIR FORCE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY HOLDS OPENING CEREMONY FOR SQUADRON COMMANDERS COURSE
The Air Force Leadership Academy held an opening ceremony for Squadron Commanders Course 1/2026 on Monday, 13 April 2026, at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College in Accra.

The eight-week course, comprising 23 participants drawn from various Bases and the Air Force Headquarters, is aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, particularly in air operations and staff work.
In his welcome address, the Commanding Officer and Course Coordinator, Wing Commander Alexander Gyekye, noted that the programme is designed to enhance leadership, strategic thinking and staff capabilities within the Ghana Air Force. He further stated that the course will equip participants with the requisite skills to perform their roles and contribute to broader operational planning effectively.

Wing Commander Gyekye encouraged participants to actively engage in interactive sessions and practical exercises under the guidance of experienced facilitators. He expressed confidence in the programme and its capacity to prepare participants for greater responsibilities within the service.

In his remarks, the Guest of Honour and Deputy Commander, Air Force Logistics Command, Group Captain Appianing Boateng expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the organisation of the course. He described the training as a significant step in professional development within the Ghana Air Force, noting that it aims to strengthen leadership skills, enhance staff work, and prepare officers for future responsibilities and stressed the importance of discipline, sound judgment and commitment to excellence in safeguarding the nation’s airspace.

He further encouraged participants to approach the course with dedication and actively engage with facilitators and colleagues to maximise learning. Highlighting the importance of mentorship and teamwork, he urged them to build lasting professional relationships and uphold the core values of honour, courage and duty. He concluded by expressing confidence in their potential as future leaders and wished them success in the course.
