The Base Commander Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi, on Monday 3 August 2026, held his final durbar with officers, airmen and defence civilian staff of the Air Force Base Tamale ahead of his handing-over ceremony.

The durbar afforded the Commander the opportunity to reflect on his tenure, highlight key achievements and bid farewell to personnel after serving at the Base.

Addressing the gathering, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi expressed his appreciation to officers, airmen and civilian staff for their unwavering dedication, professionalism and support throughout his tenure. He noted that the successes chalked up during his administration were the result of the collective efforts of all personnel.

The Commander recounted a number of infrastructural and welfare projects undertaken during his tenure to improve the operational and living conditions at the Base. He also announced that the 24-unit studio apartment project had been successfully completed and was ready for occupation. He expressed optimism that the other projects would be completed and stated that he would impress upon the incoming Base Commander the need to continue with the existing initiatives while pursuing new ideas and projects to further enhance the development of the Base.

He further encouraged personnel to remain steadfast in upholding the core values and traditions of the Ghana Armed Forces and to continue serving with dedication, integrity and loyalty. He also called on them to extend the same level of cooperation and commitment to the incoming Base Commander to ensure continuity in the execution of the Base's mandate.

The Base Commander used the opportunity to formally introduce Senior Warrant Officer Class Two Akubia Allwell as the new Base Warrant Officer. Her appointment marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first female Base Warrant Officer of Air Force Base Tamale. Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi urged personnel to accord her the necessary cooperation and support to enable her to effectively discharge her responsibilities.
