Cadets of Regular Career Course Intake 65 (RCC 65) of the Air Faculty of the Ghana Military Academy have commenced Exercise Eagle Call 2026 at Air Force Base Takoradi on Monday, 11 May 2026.

In his welcome remarks, the Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, described the exercise as a significant phase in the professional development of the cadets. He noted that the next 10 weeks would transition the cadets from the structured environment of the Ghana Military Academy into the demanding and fast-paced setting of an operational Air Force Base.

He explained that while the Academy had equipped the cadets with foundational military knowledge, the exercise would provide them with practical operational exposure to the core functions and activities of the Ghana Air Force. According to him, the cadets would undergo intensive training involving technical procedures, operational planning, and activities aimed at enhancing their readiness and leadership capabilities.

Air Commodore Yirenkyi further encouraged the cadets to remain resilient, disciplined and committed throughout the exercise, particularly during challenging moments of fatigue and frustration. He emphasised that the investment being made in their training represented an investment in the future of the Ghana Air Force and the security of the nation. He therefore urged them to remain inquisitive, professional, humble and eager to learn as future leaders of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Delivering his remarks, the Chief Instructor of the Air Faculty of the Ghana Military Academy, Wing Commander Newman Suhuba Naab, explained that Exercise Eagle Call was one of the mandatory training requirements for the commissioning of Regular Career Course Flight Cadets. He expressed appreciation to the Base Commander and personnel of Air Force Base Takoradi for the warm reception and support extended to the cadets and instructors.

A total of 12 cadets are participating in the exercise under the supervision of seven instructors. Activities scheduled for the exercise include classroom lessons on supply, engineering, Air Force history, and air operations, as well as practical training in helipad construction, vectoring and aircraft marshalling.

Present at the occasion were the Commander Support Group, Group Captain Ransford Odenke Abbey, Acting Flying Group Commander and Commanding Officer Air Traffic Management, Wing Commander Clara Oduro-Gyamfi, Commanding Officers of the various wings, officers, and airmen.
