The Base Commander Air Force Base in Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, has commissioned a new canteen for the Air Force Command Basic School on Wednesday 23 July 2025.

The project, which was funded by Heliconia, an airline and aviation services company was an initiative started by the late, Air Commodore Godfred Parker.

During the commissioning, Air Commodore Yirenkyi paid tribute to the vision of his predecessor and expressed his sincere gratitude to Heliconia for their  support in bringing the project to completion for the benefit of the school.

Speaking at the event, the Director of Education for the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Osman Shanun Zuneidu, also conveyed his appreciation to Heliconia for their contribution. He encouraged the canteen staff to maintain the facility with care and to participate in regular health screenings to ensure the provision of safe and nutritious meals for the students.
