The Air Force Recruit Training School (AFRTS) has held an induction religious parade for the first batch of recruits on Sunday, 3 May 2026, at the school’s auditorium at Air Force Base Takoradi.

The ceremony marked the official commencement of training for 300 recruits, while also providing spiritual fortification ahead of their six-month intensive basic military training. It underscored the importance of faith, discipline, and commitment as foundational values for service in the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Guest of Honour, Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, congratulated the recruits on taking their first step into military service. He emphasised the need for discipline, perseverance and mental resilience, describing soldiering as a noble calling. He also expressed appreciation to parents for their support and extended his best wishes to the recruits and the nation.

In his welcome address, the Officer Commanding AFRTS, Squadron Leader Benoni Nii Ayi Okine, noted that the recruits reported on 27 March 2026 for a 26-week intensive training programme. He explained that the induction religious parade serves as a spiritual foundation, encouraging recruits to remain grounded in their faith while upholding discipline, obedience and respect for authority.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Richard Danso, Commanding Officers of the Base and families of the recruits.
