AFRTS RECEIVES RECRUITS FOR COMMENCEMENT OF TRAINING
The Air Force Recruit Training School (AFRTS), Takoradi, has officially received its first batch of recruits for the commencement of military training on Friday, 27 March 2026.
The arrival of the recruits marked the beginning of another rigorous training cycle aimed at shaping and preparing them for service in the Ghana Armed Forces.

Speaking during an interview, the Commanding Officer of the school, Squadron Leader Benoni Nii Ayi Okine, disclosed that the school was expecting a total of 300 recruits, comprising 225 males and 75 females. He noted that the intake reflects the Ghana Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to promoting gender inclusion while maintaining high standards of recruitment.
Squadron Leader Okine further explained that the training programme would span six months and be conducted in accordance with established military training standards. The recruits would undergo intensive physical conditioning, discipline, drills, and academic instruction designed to instill professionalism, resilience, and teamwork.

He added that the training would follow a structured block programme, carefully designed to ensure that all aspects of military development, both theory and practical, are systematically covered.

The Commanding Officer expressed confidence in the training process and the instructors' capacity, stating that he anticipates a smooth and successful training period. He also emphasised the importance of discipline, commitment, and adaptability among the recruits as key qualities required to complete the training successfully.

In his welcome message, the Master Warrant Officer of the Ghana Air Force (MAWO), Bawa Abdullai, congratulated the recruits and encouraged them to give their best during the period of training. He also admonished them to obey their instructors and be of good behaviour throughout the training period.
