AFB TAK HOLDS ANNUAL WASSA 2025

The Air Force Base Takoradi has held its annual West African Soldiers Social Activity 2025 (WASSA) at the Base on Friday, 19 December 2025.

The event brought together officers, soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, families, friends, corporate organisations and representatives from other institutions to celebrate the achievements of the Base during the year.

In his address, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Eric Agyen-Frempong, who was the Guest of Honour for the occasion, stated that WASSA was not just a pleasant celebration of achievement but also an opportunity to reflect, socialise, and reaffirm the values and purposes that unite them as Officers and Airmen.

He acknowledged all personnel for their resilience, not only in their ability to endure hardship but also in their capacity to rise stronger anytime there was a challenge.

AVM Agyen-Frempon added that the loss of cherished comrades in tragic incidents had been devastating and heartbreaking for the Ghana Air Force during the period; however, with greater composure, discipline, and loyalty, personnel had been able to execute complex missions with seamless coordination and advanced training programmes amongst all ranks.

He hinted at the creation of new platforms and training systems that would help keep personnel ahead of evolving challenges as an ambitious agenda Command would be considering for the coming year.

The Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, speaking at the ceremony, commended the Chief of the Air Staff and the Military High Command for their continued support to the Base. He assured the CAS of the Base's commitment to the achievement of his vision.

Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi also lauded personnel for their hard work, sacrifice, discipline and professionalism over the period, especially those who went the extra mile to perform their duties and assigned tasks in order for the Base to attain its goals.

The Base Commander further expressed his profound appreciation to the Western Regional Minister, Hon Joseph Nelson, Retired Officers, mentors and other stakeholders who continuously support the Base in diverse ways.
